I am always surprised at my students' surprise when I tell them loading a PDF of a transcript is not the version you really want to load for trial. Even if a given PDF of a transcript is searchable, you lose all searchability of the transcript when loading the PDF version.
In the best of all worlds, you might consider loading the text (i.e., .txt) version AND a PDF version:
  • The PDF version allows better use of annotations when prepping or presenting a transcript
  • The text version allows us the ability to search and find key terms
  • We just need to make sure they have (slightly) different file names before loading
  • In addition, if you receive a synched video transcript, you want to load that version
    • But you might also consider loading a PDF version of it, should you also need to annotate testimony for the court
